About Me
Hello there, I’m Megan Moore. I’m currently a graduate student at Boston University working on my Master’s degree in Journalism with an emphasis in educational reporting and looking to pursue a career in print media. I come from a family of educators and have always had a desire to teach. I graduated in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Journalism. It was during my time as an undergraduate that I found I could combine my love of journalism and the education system and decided to pursue a specialization of reporting on education.
I’ve had the opportunity to participate in two travel writing trips to Asia and been exposed to the education system in Korea. I’ve seen how the topic of education can take a reporter from a local level to a national level to an international level. These travel writing trips made me appreciate international reporting and improved my reporting skills in that aspect.
I currently work in an after school program in Somerville, MA and love every second of it. It has taught me so much about the education system and allowed me to understand more about Common Core and key teaching fundamentals. This job has proven to be an asset in connecting to educators and helped me better develop interviewing techniques and skills.
I’ve always been an avid reader, so the publishing world has fascinated me. Copy editing, proofreading, closely analyzing texts is what initially led me to pursue English as an undergraduate. Upon graduation with my Master’s, I hope to be able to combine everything I love and work where I can utilize my editing skills and love for journalism and education.
